WHAT ARE VIRTUAL VISITS?

If you Use An iPhone, please ensure your phone is updated to at least  iOS 14.3 prior to your virtual video visit!

Virtual Visits, sometimes known as TeleHealth Visits – are medical appointments in which a provider interacts with a patient through live audio and video, and documents on the patient’s chart like a regular office visit. This is ideal for patients to see a healthcare provider during the COVID-19 self-isolation and quarantining.

As with an in-person appointment, you will be able to see and interact with your healthcare provider to discuss your symptoms, develop a treatment plan, and address next steps.

WHAT TECHNOLOGY WILL I NEED FOR A VIRTUAL VISIT?

All you need is a smartphone! You will connect with Metrolina Nephrology through a link that will be sent to your smartphone as a text message. The text will come from phone number, 882-86.

WILL MY APPOINTMENT BE CONFIDENTIAL?

Absolutely! Metrolina Nephrology is utilizing a platform called Doximity.  Doximity is completely confidential and HIPAA compliant.  Your appointment will be completely private and confidential, exactly like it would be if it were in person. 

DO VIRTUAL VISITS COST EXTRA?

Virtual Visits cost the same as in-person appointments.

DOES MY INSURANCE COVER VIRTUAL VISITS?

During the COVID19 crisis, most insurers are covering virtual visits.  Please contact your insurance directly to find out if virtual or tele-health visits are covered.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO BEFORE MY VIRTUAL VISIT AT MNA?

  • We ask that you are available 30 minutes before, and up to 30 minutes after your appointment time. 
  • We ask that you have your smartphone fully charged.
  • That’s It!

HOW DO I JOIN A VIRTUAL VISIT?

1.  You will receive a text message from the number, 882-86.

2.  In the text message there will be a link, click on that link.

3. Once prompted, allow access to your camera and microphone on your smartphone.
